Does anyone have a good list of all the reasonable ways to transition from one video clip to another?

(i.e. color fade, dissolve fade, turning cube)

The Roberts and Sharples book has a list of the standard optical effects
available from a typical full-service lab. Add to that fades, dissolves,
and cuts.

Is the turning cube a reasonable transition? I think not... but then I
think wipes draw attention to themselves more than not, especially today.
If you notice it, it's not effective.

I doubt there's a complete list anywhere because each editing program has
it's own set.
