Discussion:
New 3-camera process (at least they acknowledge that Cinerama was first).

New 3-camera process (at least they acknowledge that Cinerama was first). They say Cinerama was "short-lived". Any bets on how long this new thing will last?

Pity about the big join lines in between each panel.

Cinerama was not the first 3 camera process. The silent film NAPOLEAN was a triple camera process ( for the finale) but projected on a wide flat screen.Multi camera processes have been around since the silent days.

The Screen X system may have 3 projectors but they use 3 SEPERATE screens ,not one as Cinerama did.(or is it one screen and the other 2 imsges projected onto side walls and not screens?) There are large black gaps between the screens and the 2 side images are projected onto flat side walls. You can see the many speakers on the walls which protrude through the projected image. Most annoying. There have been many multi screen films on multi screens since he silent days and especially at EXPO '67 in Montreal where film was essential to most pavillions.Screen X is nothing new to those of us that went to Montreal in '67.There we saw numerous 70mm short films on multi screens of all shapes and sizes. There was also (not sure if it is still open) a 70mm cinema in the Sydney Tower in Sydney,Australia, which used 70mm projected onto 3 screens just like Screeen X . So is it really new cinema experience?

Every few years, someone rediscovers the wheel and thinks that it's new.
