Does any one know what percentage of theatrical films originate on 35mm film compared with digital?

The problem is that this is a moving target... five years ago the vast majority
of films were still originated on film... today it's a whole lot smaller number
and it's becoming increasingly difficult to get producers to support production
on film. Next week the numbers will probably be still lower.

Scott about sums it up nicely. Furthermore, the entire film-based industry seems to be collapsing upon itself. It isn't just a matter of this one company or one item that is hard to get or discontinued...it is EVERYWHERE. We are still supporting 16, 35 and 70mm as much as possible but it is getting progressively harder when virtually nobody supports it anymore.

Well, if you don't know Steve, you could probably figure it out through
a binary search pattern.

It's definitely not Technicolor, they don't give a damn about film anymore.
And it's definitely not AMC, they fought hard for a while but their goal
is to do as many showings for as little money as they can.

So... it has to be some place in-between....

Derek,

I work for Cardinal Sound & Motion Picture Systems Inc. We service such venues as the Library of Congress, AFI and others. We've put in a lot of Kinoton over the years and most of it has survived into the digital age alongside DCinema.

Thanks Steve! Kudos to Cardinal for continuing to support film! :)
